Antonia

Hi, I’m Antonia. I was born in Manhattan and raised in Spanish Harlem. I am the second oldest of six children. As a child growing up it was pretty normal, but in my teens, that’s when I decided to experiment with drugs. At that time I didn’t know anything about getting saved. I grew up in a Pentecostal church. My grandfather was the pastor of the church, but the services were always in Spanish. I really didn’t know why Jesus Christ died on the cross for me.

So I continued to do drugs until one day I told myself, “What am I doing?” At that point I decided, “No more for me.” That’s when me and my husband started going to a Times Square church. At that time I really wasn’t saved. It took me a while, but in 2008 I realized I needed Christ in my life. So, one day I was home alone and started thinking, “Wow! I need Jesus Christ in my life.” That was when I asked God to forgive me for all of my sins. I realized that Jesus died on the cross for me. I have been serving him ever since. It’s been a blessing to have my husband, my children, and my family in my life today. If I wasn’t saved today, I don’t know where I would be.

I love coming to Commonwealth Community Baptist Church. I like the way Pastor Marty used to conduct the services and now with Pastor Joel, I like it a lot. He is a really good teacher. The church is like a family to me. The people are so friendly. I feel welcome here.

I met with Pastor Joel. He took the Bible and explained the way of salvation more clearly to me. He answered all my questions and helped me to see that Christ had died for my sins on the cross.

Commonwealth Community Baptist Church has welcomed me and my family with loving arms. I was searching and yearning for a church to call home, and I have found that in CCBC.
