Below is one of the surviving copies of the Mahzor Vitry, an 11th Century document composed by a disciple of the famed commentator Rashi. It is a powerful experience to consider the souls of those who composed and copied these texts through the ages.

This specific copy is dated to 1204.

It includes a variety of writings, including commentary on the Decalogue (Ten Commandments)

It also records a number of recited prayers and legal documents significant to Medieval life in France.

One of the points our group pondered for self-reflection was: “Can we become so focused on minute details concerning the words, that we neglect our relationship with the Living Word of God, our Lord Jesus Christ?”
The Apostle Paul admonished the church of God at Corinth, and by extension all of the Lord’s churches, “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” (I Corinthians 2:5 KJV).
