“Many people owe the grandeur of their lives to their tremendous difficulties.”
-C.H. Spurgeon
This quote made me think about you, each one of the precious saints who make up the Commonwealth Community Baptist Church.
Tremendous difficulties? We got plenty. What a year this has been! But as the quote goes, we can have grandeur (that is to say, splendor, magnificence, glory) because it is through these difficult times that our character is tested, our faith is refined, and our knowledge of God is deepened.
I hope each one of us will be encouraged that our God who never makes mistakes is still in control even now, and that He sees fit to set the difficulties in our lives ahead of the grandeur that is sure to follow.
We love you and hold you in our hearts and prayers!
Verse of meditation for the week:
“Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.” Proverbs 25:4
This was originally sent as a Mid-Week Meditation to the community of CCBC on June 10, 2020.

Our church is known as the Commonwealth Community Baptist Church of the Bronx. Sometimes people will refer to our church simply as “Commonwealth.”
As everyone in our church knows, this past Christmas season we completed a detailed study of I Timothy 3:16.
